I learned the fundamentals of bioinformatics and published a paper. Our research focused on Oikopleura dioica, a planktonic tunicate, whose genome we sequenced using the single-molecule PacBio Hi-Fi method and assembled with NOVOLoci. In particular, we concentrated on the mitochondrial genome, annotating several proteins. This study represents the first complete mitogenome assembly for an appendicularian and reveals that A and T homopolymers cumulatively account for nearly half of its length. This reference sequence will serve as a valuable resource for environmental DNA and phylogenetic studies.
